I enjoy the idea of stars being Christmas lights for aliens. It really opens up our minds to think of other ways stars and other things could be useful to live beings other than humans. Does this mean aliens are the ones that'd place stars precisely where they want?
Philip
Thanks! We haven't fully worked out how widespread the Alien decorating is, but I like where your head is at around playing with expectations of usefulness.

I really liked the stars being Christmas lights for aliens as it gives us another perspective of what stars are in one’s imagination. If stars are lights created by aliens, would galaxies be an art exhibition of lights?
Philip
Oh hey, I love this idea. It makes me think that maybe the constellations are art exhibits put together by alien artists, and they're always trying to make better ones

I like all three but I love the idea of trees whose fruit is musical instruments. I imagine walking among trees and listening to sweet melodies or perhaps chaotic and horrible music! Instruments are mature when they are in tune! The garden becomes an orchestra! I really want to hear how this story sounds!

Thank you! We like this idea as well. I was definitely inspired by some of the early Disney Silly Symphonies, and thinking about how you could play with good farmers being master instrument crafters

Hi! These are great illustrations and concepts! I like them all but especially LOVED the second idea. It's a very wholesome concept that I had no problem visualizing. It made me wonder what the aliens were celebrating (what is Christmas to them? or are they copying humans?)? And is Earth left out on this fun? I can't wait to see where your ideas will take you next. Great job!
Philip
Thanks! The question of what the aliens are celebrating is a fun one. Would they have Christmas? Would it be an alien christmas?

Hey! These are 3 powerful ideas!! I have to say I am in love with the second idea. When I was reading it, I could perfectly imagine the aliens placing quietly the stars in the sky, maybe in groups of friends or in family… And it makes me think… Are aliens celebrating Christmas ALWAYS (because stars never disappear or turn off), or it is a different celebration from their culture? Do the stars sometimes get broken and they need to fix them or replace them like light bulbs? Ohhh, I really need to see this story!! Good job!
Philip
Thank you! Having it be a group celebration hadn't occurred to me, now we'll have to ponder that one.

We liked all three ideas. The Bus as a Bath idea feels like it could be really fun to explore visually, a fun little journey. It makes me curious about the rules, does the water flow in and out of the bus when people get in etc and how do people do regular bus things (read their books, do their homework) which all seem like fun things to see. What was unclear was: is this all buses or just one bus, and do most people want this service/experience.
Philip
Thanks for the feedback! Great questions. I think we were envisioning like a Harry Potter Knight Bus situation, but is it baths? Shower stalls? Not sure yet!
Matthew
Hey, I really love the art style! I think my favorite of the three was the second one. It starts churning the wheels in my imagination. It makes me wonder about their alien civilization and its relation to Earth. If there was anything that was unclear, it would be a question on how the aliens know about Christmas. They know what Christmas is so are the aliens spying on humans and learning from them? Or is it just a coincidence?
Philip
Thanks, these are great questions! We're definitely pondering them as well.

Our What-if submissions. What if the bus were also a bath? What if stars were alien christmas lights? What if muscial instruments grew on trees?
