About schools, it's always tricky because there's a lot of great animation schools out there that would give you a very high quality training, but also there's incredible artists who are self taught and it just took them a lot of practice and wanting to do this job and got to do it without attending a school. At the same time some job application forms might require a bachelor degree "or" a minimum years experience, so that could also make the difference. It very much depends on the single studio policy, and generally if they like your work, they will find the way to get you on board, even sponsoring you with a visa. You can also start as an intern and again, if they studio finds your help valuable it will be in their interest to keep you there. The one thing where that piece of paper counts is if you are trying to apply for a visa or a green card, you might be an excellent artist but the government might still want to have that certified qualification. When I graduated my animation school wasn't recognized as such to release bachelor degrees. It is now, after many years, but I got jobs anyway in the meantime without a BD. So the only thing I'd suggest is if you are already working, keep doing it, maybe get additional certifications with online schools. If you're a student and know that you will eventually apply for visas, maybe prioritize schools that give you that kind of qualifications. About the social aspect of education, my advice is to open yourself to a dynamic environment where you can thrive on the inspiration generated by the art community around you, so in person schools are amazing for that. But again, not mandatory :)

Networking wise, I don't use linkedin much and I have no idea what Lunchclub is and I feel really old right now :D I think instagram is pretty good, I love having an art feed to wake up to and it's so easy to spark conversations with other artists just messaging them or commenting on their posts. Not gonna lie, I got some job opportunities just by posting my cat's pictures :D
