BEST. STORY. EVER. This just goes to show that a film/short story/animation doesn't need words to have a good story, besides, I always liked silent films ever since I was a kid and I still like them now! Great job!

This story has wonderfully small stakes that are heartfelt and relatable. From a structure standpoint though, it could use better impetus for his actions. Not so much as far as "why" but "why right now"? Why is it that he decides to make the sidewalk bake shop at this point? Perhaps there could be some kind of event that occurs within his life that inspires him to go for it. Like a little neighbor girl who has a stand of their own across the street. Pa Pa Po could see this and think "Huh, I could do that too!". And I have the same note for Pa Pa Po reaching out to Pepper. Why now? If we were to continue on the thread I mentioned earlier, perhaps the little girl does something that reminds Pa Pa Po of Pepper and he thinks to call her. Finally, I feel like there should be better motivation for Pepper joining Pa Pa Po at the end. From what I can ascertain, it seems like Pepper doesn't like her job based on her facial expressions. However, as a grown woman, why would she agree to drop everything and help her grandfather who has not reached out to her in several years and lives on the other side of the planet? Perhaps you could demonstrate in some way that Pepper has fostered a love of baking this whole time and is itching to get back to it. These are all things that I see as opportunities to enrich this already charming story even further. I also wanted to say that the art for this is gorgeous and very clear. Great job!

I love this film, it has such a heartfelt message, something that everybody on the planet wants: a friend. Awesome backstory with Bait's parents leaving her behind and having the jellyfish coming in to save the day. There were a few awkward pauses in the VoiceOver audio, but other than that, I really liked it! Awesome job!

This is so amazing and heartfelt! I really felt Po's pain of missing Pepper. There were a few frames that had a couple extra seconds of silence where there could have been more dialogue added or sound effects, but everything else super, super job! You have a very distinct illustration style that really shown through in the story reel. The film was definitely engaging with audience and viewers.

I loved this so much! The artwork is great and the message is spot-on! I love the depth of character Toro showed when he asked Hermit why he would save him from the river, even after how mean he acted. The geode metaphor is beautiful, Toro thinking that his chips are something to be embarrassed by, but Hermit says that's what makes him shine. The boy who spotted Toro by the tree could even be seen as a metaphor for life. Toro was thrown down to rock-bottom (literally!) and that's where his life-changing event took place. He only kept growing from there. One thing to maybe think about next time is the repetition of certain phrases in the voiceover dialogue, the 'because of that's I noticed, but only after reading through your script again after watching. Overall, wonderful graphics, theme, and message, this is definitely impactful. Great job!

You are a great storyteller, I'd love to see all your stories :D
We all have a vision of life and this vision shows through our work, in your case your vision is showing a kind and tender view.

Of course we are complex human beings and have different views, I can sense feelings in your work and that makes the difference on feeling and understanding your vision or not! I think the work on feelings is the most important part we learnt in this course.

Please continue making stories and sharing them with the world! Honestly I didn't like how the final submissions were handled because in the end the most well crafted, or professional looking boards got most votes, not the best stories or the most meaningful. It is easy to get discouraged because of this kind of things, I did as well at the voting stage, but it is strange because I was very happy with my result when I first delivered, it was only after the voting when I got discouraged.

I'm glad my comment made you feel better, some people also made me feel better with their comments and understanding, it can get hard at times! By the way your reply also made me feel better :D

Take care and see you at the discord!!! I think I appear there as: Diego Torres#8116

I really love your story boarding style. You are able to express the characters very well & know how to create fun character movement. I liked the sound of the school, and immediately felt excited, but also a little nervous for the character. I liked the subtle interaction & character development. When Aaron introduced himself, it was a fun surprise, to see that he was a character just like her. So good job. I wish you well in your future endeavors & hope we can all continue to grow in creativity & find ways to share & uplift the world. Kind regards from the Isles of the Sea, jAckie =)

Hello, that was a delightful story. I liked your story telling voice, as well as the voice of the girl. I was surprised at how you brought the wall to life, telling it's story. I also liked how the cat & the girl had the same color hair. It was neat to see how the three characters wove together in a sweet tale. This would make a great children's book. I wish you well in your future endeavors & hope we can all continue to grow in creativity & find ways to share & uplift the world. Kind regards from the Isles of the Sea, jAckie =)

Hi Brother Jacob, good job in participating in Xperiential & putting together a good story idea. I loved your drawings & use of color. I also liked that you had no dialog. The only thing I would add, would be to have the music change or stop all together at the car scene. Adding some walking & car sounds would also be a nice addition. Hope you are doing well. Kind regards & blessings from our Ohana to you, jAckie

That was really a creative story. I was drawn in by your art & title. I was amazed at how you were able to have Marin change into so many characters, and how easy it was for me to recognize her with the blue eyes. That was an excellent idea to have Marin have blue eyes. I laughed when she became a dragon, and all we could see was her eye in the window. What a great idea to show Marin as a dragon, by just drawing her eye in the window. If you refine this more, please let me know, as I'd love to see it again. I wish you well & hope you will be blessed with many opportunities to use your creativity to be a blessing. Kind regards from the Isles of the Sea, jAckie =)

Wow, that was really a great story! I was drawn in by the title & cute character design. Even though I'm a Mom, who has long since graduated from College, I remember those days very well, especially in the pressure of choosing the best major, so that I could become my best self. I can tell you first hand, that the experience of life, does indeed mold us, and we are able to experience many positions, which lead to growth in so many unexpected ways. I still want to become my best, which is why I wanted to participate in this Xperiential program. No matter how old we are, we will always have goals & dreams which may seem unattainable. But as long as we stay true to who we really are, and make sure we make time for those we love, then we will all continue to grow in such beautiful ways. Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming story with an important message of hope & direction. If you refine your video in the future, please do let me know, as I'd love to see it. Kind regards & blessings from the Isles of the Sea, jAckie =)
