Por las barbas de mi gato - My Cat´s whiskers

I like so many of these drawings but especially love the image of when Daniel as the cat is disgusted by the tuna! I kept going back and forth if I like the way the text shows up and is announced because it gives a cool vibe but also was a bit awkward when it took too long of pauses in wrong places. Fascinating story reel, very well done!

The Shadow Bazaar

I love your style of drawing and using the hints of blueish greenish color. You really get a feel for the ambience and environment with the wind effect and the long shadows. I like how at the end, it says "what will you choose?" Awesome job!

Samson, the magical sword.

I love the drawings, sound effects, and expressions conveyed in the reel. A suggestion would be to add music when there are long silences. The story is captivating and makes me want to see more of their adventures!

The Antique Store - Acts 1, 2 & 3

The storytelling is very captivating! The narrating voice is great and the use of phrases like "no sooner, no later" gives insight into the main character's personality and makes me want to keep watching the story. I like that you put a lot of thought into each shot and transitions- I enjoyed the idea of the transition of the record player playing jazz music from her bedroom to the store. It was great to see the protagonist evolve and realize that she wanted and was capable of having friends. Something that could be added is to put more emphasis and have more of a moment of the ghosts showing her how she does not know everything because the main character likes things done in a very particular way and thinks she knows it all, but they are supposed to show her she does not. They show her that she is accepted and included but I would like to hear more of the conversations about the ghosts' lives which may help to show how she got to her character arc. Your positioning was well done and one image that stood out to me was the framing of having her stand in a door frame right before she is invited to play cards with the ghost, because at that moment, she is still living in her boxed in and narrow-minded life which is about to change and she is about to listen to new perspectives and find that she wants to interact more with others, maybe having to make some compromise of how she usually does things.

Mr. Charcoal in Recovery-Land

I like the use of color and with the purple and yellow being contrasting colors, some of the images really pop. I love the moral and that Mr. Charcoal makes himself a priority and takes care of himself. It is good to have balance and not push yourself too far. I am wondering if the tornado is just a metaphor or if there was a literal tornado in this story because what happened to his original job? Was that building destroyed by the tornado? How exactly did he find time to start working with the horses if he was already working too much at his job?

GRANDFATHER - ROUGH STORY REEL

Wow that image of the dog running away with the grandfather's handkerchief is stunning, definitely see this as being in a Pixar movie or short! This is a touching story and teaches you to listen to stories from your parents' and grandparents' lives and lessons they have learned along the way and spend time with your family and cherish those moments. I was wondering why the the father's death was included besides it being why the grandfather started living at the boy's house and he then became a bigger role in his life. I guess there are other reasons why the grandfather could go to live with the family and the boy looks through pictures and mementos from his grandfather's life and learns from them, but doesn't put this focus on his father's life. What do you want the moral of the story to be?

Billie

I love the moral of facing your fears and not being afraid of the unknown, as that is something I struggle with. Your drawings are compelling and have amazing lighting! I'm a little confused why Billie draws himself as a ghost hunter if he is scared of ghosts and also his family is supposed to be helping the ghosts pass to the afterlife, not hunt the ghosts. Does he want to just get rid of ghosts because he is scared? But also, aren't his parents ghosts and he can feel connected to them by their ghosts? I'm confused as to after the vortex opens, what exactly are the golden threads? Because the threads connect the living with their loved ones who have passed, so wouldn't the thread be touching the ghosts? But it's said that something bad would happen if the thread touched the ghost. When the ghosts start to become normal, what exactly is the "normal" for a ghost in your story?

Jett-Setting the World

This is a fascinating concept, hands-on-learning and experiences really help education. I am fascinated by the idea of the origami paper creature (who is so cute!) being her tour guide through different countries. Instead of having Amelia looking down, maybe you could show her reaction to this portal a bit more.

Mush Sketch

This is such a cute little mushroom, I love the artwork! Is that a teardrop below Mush's eye? I would like to see Mush in relation to others around them and how they interact with other creatures/things in their world to give a better idea of how the story might unfold.

Craig's World

This is a beautiful image and has great composition! Your main character stands out and seems like they feel different or alone or like they don't fit in. Whose perception of the world are we looking through? Is this how Craig sees the world?

Adam

The castle-like building is beautiful! Love your drawing style! It is unclear exactly what the main character's relationship is to their surroundings but looks like the protagonist is intimidated by and nervous to enter a new life in this castle. More details possibly in the main character's clothing or something they are carrying could indicate what they are doing in this moment. Could also show others around them to either give contrast or show how they conform, to give the audience more information.

Simon The Skunk's World

I am interested to know more about this story, I think that a story featuring a skunk could be really adorable and also explore some great morals. I like that this drawing includes a skunk who may be stinky and surrounding themself with nice smelling flowers, maybe the skunk is trying to cover up their own smell and trying to hide this part of them. It is unclear how the skunk interacts with others around them, so it could be helpful to see more details of their world and daily life and animals/things they encounter and see the reactions of others to the skunk's smell.

The Dream Store

The drawings are fantastic! This world intrigues me and makes me want to know more about the story. It is still unclear exactly what is going on but it's hard to know everything from just two drawings. However, the drawings make me think that in the Dream Store, you pick a candy to eat that will make you have a certain dream. Maybe people's dreams are extracted and contained in capsules so that others can have these dreams too. To give a better idea of this store and what it is selling, maybe drawings could show people trying out the product in or around the store.

Introducing Emily

What I like about Emily is that she is smart and likes history and stories behind the antiques. I love her voice too! I definitely see room for a big character arc where Emily learns from the ghosts and can see from all their different perspectives and see that she can still learn things and does not know everything. She can make friends with the ghosts and practice conversing with them and then go on to make non-ghost friends as well. I am so excited to see where this story goes!

Lauren

What I like most about this character is that she is creative and loves to draw. It is unclear how exactly the drawing that came to life gets her to go outside of her comfort zone/talk to others in her class- does she go around the room trying to stop the drawing and in doing so, ends up having to talk to others? Or is the drawing a role model for her and she sees that if the drawing can do it, so can she?

"Cornelius the Chameleon" - Character Profile

I love the name Cornelius for a chameleon! He is so adorable and having a chameleon be the main character is such a great idea for a story and has many intriguing possibilities. I love that Cornelius wants to help others. It is a little unclear what the accident is, is it just the fact that he was away from others for so long and this is why he went gray? Maybe he has really only worn others' emotions (like if a chameleon is angry and starts talking to him, then Cornelius will become angry too even if he might not have otherwise felt angry about what was being discussed) in the past and being by himself forces him to discover emotions that are his own and feel those emotions when he wants to and have the emotions be related to his own life.

Bean

I like that she is family-oriented and enjoys local, family-owned places better than corporate places. Her nickname is so cute, like a coffee bean. She is such an adorable character and I admire her determination and sticking up for her family. It is still unclear what the conflict will end up being: mainly the corporate coffee shop or something else? In being in competition with the corporate coffee shop, does Bean gradually make their family-owned shop more like the corporate one and loses some of its original appeal? Will she find her more youthful side by the end of the story?

Guillermo Raphael Guerrero

I love your drawings and you story, I am very fascinated and am so excited to see the final story reel! I really relate to the part about not being able to control every part of your life, there are things that you can control and things you can't and you can't always be worrying and it is great to go outside of your comfort zone and find more out about yourself this way and you may really enjoy it. It is such a cool idea for Billie to have a fear of ghosts but has the ability to see them. By communicating and helping one of the ghosts out, this can help him overcome fears and push him outside of his comfort zone, so they are really helping each other out. I am curious to see what the ghost needs help with. Also, Billie's grandma was mentioned. How does she play a role in this story? One route that the story could go is that he helps out his grandma's ghost. Are all of the ghosts friendly?

Week 02 - Aban the Bear

Aban is so cute, I love your drawings and you are great at capturing expressions! This is an amazing idea for a bear to want to experience winter and what the world is like while he is usually hibernating. "Kawfee" is really funny and could be a solution to how he is able to stay awake longer but I agree, could become a conflict. Does Aban have any bear friends that feel the same way or do they reject his feelings? Does he encounter other critters along his journey? Does Aban like what he sees when experiencing winter instead of hibernating? If so, won't he always still long for this and try to experience it each year? I agree with Abbie that it would be sad if he never got to experience winter things again, so it would be cute if his bear friends or other animals that he meets out in the winter, would bring winter to him before he hibernates each year.

What ifs…..

I am curious about the mariachi musician healing others with his music because this would be such a sweet and heartwarming story to watch. I feel that mariachi music is something that makes me feel better when I listen to it so I am captivated by this idea. It is unclear to what extent he can heal people and if it is mental, physical, or both? Can any other musicians do this? How did he find this out? What will be the main conflict? Maybe the only one he can't heal is himself. I love the drawing and this could be a really touching story!

Kaitlyn's What If...

I love the idea: what if wearing people's shoes lets you see from their point of view because I think that this is an important topic. We've all been through different experiences and have various struggles. You can't completely know what it's like unless you are actually in their shoes. It makes me wonder about how someone judges another person and is mean to them but after stepping literally into their shoes, sees things completely different afterwards and will treat people better from then on. It is unclear how this would work- would whoever steps into the shoes look like and have the emotions of the shoes' owner? Then would they spend a day or longer with their shoes on or would you just trade shoes for a few minutes and you would feel the way they are feeling for that amount of time? Very intriguing!

S McIntyre - What if…?

My favorite idea is the one about the antique store because so many different fascinating stories and details can be involved with the variety of objects in the store. It makes me wonder what each ghost would look like and if the owner would be friends with the ghosts and be able to communicate with them. It is unclear if the ghosts would talk to the owner and if they could interact with other ghosts in the store. The antique store could be a place for the ghosts to meet other ghosts and learn about each other's interests through the objects that they owned. I am not sure what the central conflict would be. Does a ghost come to tell the owner that they must return their object to its rightful home, maybe it had been stolen from them and the owner goes on a journey to deliver the item to who the ghost wants it to belong to. Is the owner frightened by the ghosts? Does she want to help them? Does she not have many friends but these ghosts become her friends or give her advice? Maybe one day, she recognizes one of the items/one of the ghosts and gets to talk to that person again. One object could not have a ghost and the store-owner goes on a mission to return it to its owner who is still living and builds a connection with that person. There a lot of possibilities and this concept is very exciting!

What If?

My favorite idea was the one about spirit guides because I feel like everyone could use a mentor to help improve their life. It makes me wonder about how the people would feel less alone in certain situations but could also be overwhelmed by their guides at some points if they are always with them and giving them advice every second. It is unclear whether or not these spirit guides can be seen by everyone in this world and how these magical guides are assigned to each person. I wonder about the complexity of the one person's drunk guide, is the guide a character similar to Haymitch from the Hunger Games who is drunk and may seem unwilling to help at first but is actually very complex and goes on to play a huge positive role in his mentees' lives or will this guide stay the same throughout the whole story?

What If by The Deep Inkers

My favorite What If idea is the food in the fridge being neighbors because this could include such cute characters with each food/drink/item having its own personality. It makes me wonder about how a whole world/neighborhood could be created inside of this one object and leaves room for a lot of possibilities. It is still unclear who the protagonist would be and what the main conflict would be. Is there one piece of food that was forgotten about in the back of the fridge and keeps getting new neighbors replaced and wonders what is outside of the refrigerator? What would be the moral of the story/what are you trying to convey? I love this concept and would be such a great setting for a story and can include many different personalities and fun details!

What if?... Week 1

Wow! All three would make amazing stories! I am interested in the first idea because it gives so many possibilities, like she could use the book for good or it could turn into greed and she learns its best not to write in that book at all. Something unclear is if others can also write in this notebook and what they write also becomes a reality and can she change things that happened in the past? I am also very captivated by the third what if concept because everyone has different experiences and this could be a chance to see other perspectives and create more understanding between people but complications could also arise because people might not be living their own life and just be feeding off of other's memories. It makes me wonder about if these are only accessible to the rich and if people would want to share their memories. It is unclear if the memories are no longer in the minds of the people who originally had the memories. I am excited to see your project no matter which idea you choose!
