Lottie’s whole story

I love this idea! The fact Lottie still shows signs of being an otter in human form is sort of a always-having-part-of-your-roots type thing, which I really like! I feel like the pairing off in class being for a lab project or a activity or game that needs pairs might be a little more realistic, but I related to the emotion of it! I think the story might also be a little more interesting if the audience doesn't know Lottie is an otter magically transformed into a human until Lottie does. Maybe a flashback or I could even see visuals of Lottie's reflection in the water tying really well into your themes or the discovery. Excellent work! :D

No Such Thing as Aliens, Act 1-2-3 (A freaking week late)

Better late than never! Your hard work really shows in this, and what you have looks good :D I love the wider shots of outside or of the store the family works at. It feels like Jodi is having trouble fitting into a lot of these environments, so seeing her separated from other when they're disagreeing or she's not believing in aliens is a nice touch

I really like Jodi as a character. The way she's embarrassed/skeptical about the whole alien abduction obsession in her family and how that plays into larger themes of hope and honesty is really interesting! It feels like believing in aliens would mean believing her father still loves her and Jodi has trouble accepting this. Also, Jodi is fine playing it up and pretending to believe when it scares the little kids! I feel that. The doggy is also really cute <3 I like the lighting effects/colors you added in key areas. I also love Jodi hitting the UFO shaped light coming back at the end and the crashed UFO only adding to their business XD Keep up the great work

Underwoof goes under the sea - All Acts

I really like Luanna as a protagonist! It is very easy to root for her, and I related to her a lot. If anything, I would like to see more of the bonding between Luanna and her sea creature friends. Even just seeing the crab, whale, and doggy playing together before Luanna has a nap on the whale's back or Luanna showing them more surface things could show us a lot. I also like that Luanna's happy ending isn't entirely underwater. She started with no friends and now has twice the friends at land and sea :D Very cute <3 <3

Mr. Charcoal in Recovery-Land

Gosh, this story is just so cute. I love Mr. Charcoal and his journey of self-care so much. I really love the tornado intro, the stars, and how small Mr. Charcoal looks in his big world in this. His little desk working late as the other animals are in big organized desks made me root for him so much. I would love to see more of the world around Mr. Charcoal once he is in recovery land with the horses because I loved the ones we did see like him sleeping under a leaf. It was also nice to see Mr. Charcoal reading and having fun with other frogs in his recovery. Have you thought about maybe showing Mr. Charcoal using a cane or wheelchair and/or having a back brace on? I would love to see steps of his physical recovery as much as his mental recovery. I also wonder if he could lean on the horses or look at the stars to help body and mind. I love him, he is so cute

Billie

Oh, I was so on-board and excited for the ghost dog! This story is so amazing and I had so much fun watching this :D There are so many strong visuals in this like seeing the different portraits of the family throughout the years, like Billie drawing his school burning down, Billie's covered ears showing he's kind of a closed off or sheltered character, and the darkness making Billie look like his drawing of the fearsome ghost hunter. I also really like the way fear plays into so much of your story! Billie is afraid of ghosts and then the little ghost dog is afraid of him.

If anything, I would love more visual shorthand in this; your team is very good at it! A lot of the story beats you narrated were very clear in your visuals. Even as little dialogue as his grandma saying, "It's time," after he blows out birthday candles and then seeing the summoning circle would convey just as much. I imagined us seeing the two ghosts in the house after Billie's followed the gold thread and lightning flashes and we see a portrait of Billie and his parents in the background. Billie being and artist and all the family portraits in the beginning open up so many possibilities for visuals in this! :D I love it, keep up the great work <3

Smoke Me - A Cigarette in Love

I like how the ending was conveyed so visually! Are you planning on doing narration, dialogue, or more of a silent film for your final? I think your visuals are very strong and could be conveyed well with any of the three! Great work here

Acts 1 and 2 of Hero Town

I like this a lot! Renee's yellow helps set her apart, and seeing her be the only character still believing in heroes makes her becoming the hero seem inevitable. Her going through so much to get to hero town seems to confirm this. I was honestly half expecting hero town to have become a retirement village XD Hero town being full of mobsters and crime is a really interesting angle, though! I would love to see more of this world, more time spent on Renee's journey to hero town, and more of how Renee got to think about and believe in the heroes so much. Some of the storyboards had panels like comic books, so seeing Renee read old comic books or old news reports and movies could be a fun way to mirror Renee becoming a hero herself ^_^ Excellent work here

Act 1 & 2 Storyreel

Love the spirit drinking a sodie pop

Also, I was surprised when the magical elements were revealed! The setting seemed much like our own earn at first, but this not a detriment. I also like the potential for drama with a spirit helping hunt other spirits and perhaps being next on the list once the task is complete. Could be some tension there! I'd love more context on what spirits can and can't do in this universe to add to that tension as well <3

Upside Down to Right Side Up Storyreel - Acts 1 & 2

Ooo, I love characters like Iris! It can be such a fun metaphor for so many things that make people different, and I tend to relate to them a lot! My only suggestions for this would be to research stereotypes against Romani people to avoid them when depicting the tarot reader character if you haven't already. I don't think it's a bad idea for a character outright so long as you avoid using the g-slur and, if you're gonna do voice lines, don't do... The Voice.

My other suggestion is that I really really like the grief for Iris's pet being what made her upside down, but I think revealing it later into the story would make it more flavorful. Perhaps Iris tells it to a new friend she really trusts, perhaps to the fortune teller, or maybe we see it when she's really downtrodden remembering life on Earth once she's stranded. Just seeing Iris going about her day would be a wonderful introduction, and I accepted her just being upside down almost immediately ^_^ Overall, I really like this world you've created and I'm excited to see how Iris goes about the rest of her adventure! She's great!

Act 2

Oooo! I like several things about this! For one, I like how you've dressed your artsy people. I've definitely seen these people around my campus's art building or at shows before XD I also really like how often Zoe is sort of separated from other characters in the frame. Lotta wide shots mixed with really close shots of Zoe's face or phone. Really good job in communicating Zoe's imposter syndrome and/or worry of losing her position. I also love the motion of the really rough frame of Zoe chasing the creature. Just very good! Based on your act 1, I was not expecting a mythical creature interfering in act 2, so this is very exciting!

SMOKE ME

The way the wish was illustrated as this little spark and having that spark rolled into the cigarette in the factory was so cool! I also liked the carefully placed sounds and motion effects in this to help enhance this story. I like that we get to see both the woman's story and the cigarette's story. They are both heroes in their own right and never quite get to interact the way most characters would, and that made it really interesting to watch! I laughed when our poor cigarette felt destined to kill his love XD The romance feels a little doomed, but I like that about it. I also enjoyed her hesitation to smoke him even though she can't tell he is alive; it adds a certain magic and whimsy. My only question is whether the girl has a name? I can understand purposefully leaving it out, but I feel like the cigarette learning her name perhaps from papers in her house or maybe a credit card he shares her pocket with would make for some fun moments of him being lovestruck. I really like this story!

Porcelain bird

Wow, I really love the way this opens. I love the feather flying in to contrast the "real" bird from our porcelain hero. I think it's a very nice way to introduce our knick knacks and their setting while showing the themes we'll see later. And I like getting to see every figurine's personality. I was a little confused by the break before the porcelain bird gets flown out the window, but I think I understood the overall idea of the porcelain bird meeting birds that can fly out at the beach but being unable to eat like them, walk like them, and fly like them. I relate a lot to this bird's feeling downtrodden and left behind. I think this is a fascinating act 1 and 2, and I'm excited to see how the porcelain bird returns to their friends CHANGED :O and if they return at all. This whole thing is very cute <3 I like your story and designs

POr las barbas de mi gato (My cat´s whiskers)

Lot of good drawings here! I also really like this premise. The whole idea of becoming what you're afraid of to better understand them and the setting of these schoolkids makes it very relatable. Mostly, though, I am very confused. There are a lot of elements here. Certain points get repeated, and I feel like I get introduced to characters outside of their element and independent of what they do. I am also confused if there was magic involved in the lightning strike that caused the body switch. If there is, who did it? If there isn't, why is the solution a magical one?

This story is enthusiastically told, and I feel lucky to see it grow and unfold, but currently I feel like there are a lot of loose details that don't fit the theme and story very well. I think with some focus on the main story and events, the details added could better support the story being told instead of distracting from it, because I want to hear that story very much :D

Week 5 Lily the Lion Cub

Oh, I love the potential drama and dynamics of a big lion family! Lily being stuck in the middle taking care of the youngest while the oldest siblings are occupied :(( I like that our protagonist uses a cane and would love to see how this factors into her dreams! I know a lot of athletes use adaptive devices. I've seen deaf dancers, blind skateboarders, and I'd love to see Lily skate in a way that's easier for her <3 My biggest complaint about this is that it ends. I want to see more! Are the animals in Los Angeles mostly species found there the way the lion family is from Tanzania? Do we get to see Lily remember or talk about the hyena attack? I would also love to see more of the family and whether or not they help Lily go to the roller disco. Excited for this!

Old Dogs New Tricks Act 1

LOVE that it's the animal practicing magic and not the humans. That is so fun! I was not expecting the body swapping spell to be Oscar's idea to fix the problem. It's so bizarre and short-sighted, so I'm glad it had adverse effects. I think it's a good character choice for both a dog and a dog that needs to grow. I found the story very clear, and I like the family dynamic aspect with pets. Keep up the great work ^_^

Snowed In Act 1 (with subtitles)

Ooh, I like these character designs a lot, especially Antalya. Having them each have their own color is a great choice! Excited to see how they get food and things to outlast being stuck in the snow. Also the idea of double and triple checking the calendar definitely paints at least some of these characters as over-preparers so seeing how they handle something so unplanned that takes them way off schedule is an exciting prospect :D

If anything, I'd say adding more details to the friends and their personalities here in act 1 to pay off later or conflict with the over-preparedness would add some flavor. Maybe one friend was late and is sad about not being at the airport only to avoid the storm and so on. Also adding other instances of tight scheduling or being prepared, shorthands like overstuffed luggage or something, could drive in this theme. But it is just a reel, so I understand if that's already in the works and was just cut for time. Very very excited to see more from this team <3

Act One Storyboard!

Really love the cryptids being friends! It does make me curious how they all met, though. Is there a distinct terrain where the snow, water, and forest they're all known for meet? I think that could be a cool setting. I agree with Alia: I feel like seeing them in any environment would make more sense if we saw each of them sort of emerge from the setting they're most known for. Nessie coming up from the water to reveal legs, Bigfoot peaking out from trees before joining the others to play in the snow... I just think it would be neat ^_^ Excited for this!
