In our program you will follow the Pixar process to create your own storyreel, a rough draft of an animated film using drawings edited together in a sequence. Watch this video for more details.
OVERVIEW
Our program requires at least 40 hours of work which you can fit into your schedule.
Most do the program in around 8 weeks.
Each step in the program guides you towards creating a final storyreel that mimics Pixar’s process.
You'll be giving and receiving peer feedback at each step in this process.

  • Our program is asynchronous to fit any schedule. It requires ~40 hours of work to complete.
  • You can participate individually or in teams. (50% of our users work in teams)

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
  • Drawing materials: Many users use nothing but a pencil and paper to create their stories. We also provide free drawing software suggestions.
  • Video editing: To create a storyreel, you will need to use a simple video editor such as iMovie (we suggest many free resources)

  • Monday: 1-hour YouTube livestream with Pixar storytellers, 5pm PT/8pm ET (we post recordings)
  • Tuesday - Thursday: Work independently supported by the weekly content & community
  • Friday - Sunday: Upload your work in progress to the weekly gallery
  • Next Monday: Give & receive feedback on peers' work in the weekly gallery
LIVESTREAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • Individuals - Most participants register and work independently through the program.
  • Small teams - Try working with a team of 2-4 people. You can sign up as a group, or join independently and form a team within the program.​
  • Large groups/Schools - One person per organization registers the desired number of participants. Our team can help you with onboarding, email help@storyxperiential.com for assistance.
